He's thrilled with the ensemble cast that's been assembled for "La Boheme," and would like to see it stay together as a regular company ensemble: Christina Holms (Mimi), Christina DiMuro (Musetta), Daniel Juarez (Rodolfo), Michael Trnik (Marcello), Jerry Holmes (Schaunard), Gordon Jones (Parpignol), David Schancupp (Benoit) and Victor Altschul (Alcindoro) and Joshua Lara (Colline). The company is negotiating to get other performances of the classic, with full sets, but those plans, says Price, will depend "on what we're doing with this one." "It's one of those pot-boiler names which people recognize." That's one of the reasons the company decided on the popular Puccini work for its fall production. It's very pleasing to me, but we are in a growth process and hope to continue to improve as we go along."īut, says Price, the more people know about them, the better chance of expanding its mission of community opera. While Price touts the cast for "La Boheme," as "first class," noting, "It's amazing how many good voices are around," his goal is to help Hillhouse get to the next level. When (co-founder) Sarah Kennedy invited me, I was very happy to do it, mainly because it's always been a love of mine." "I wanted to do it, because I was challenged by the possibilities. He's doing it out of love for opera and because it gives him a chance to live vicariously the dream he had to start an opera company in Danbury, where he has a vocal studio and teaches private lessons.
